Carbohydrate chemistry and enzymology, utilization of plant cell wall polysaccharides by yeast and fungi, production, purification and characterization of extracellular microbial enzymes, bioconversion of cellulose and hemicellulose, mechanism of action of xylanases and cellulases, transglycosylation reactions of glycosyl hydrolases.
